Hemi-go

Hemi-go is a new form of mobile vehicle created for the hemiplegic population, different from the current way of moving, they change the previous movement image which always curl up in a wheelchair by moving naturally like ordinary people . When the hemiplegia use half of their body to confidently step out of the house, they tear off the label of the weak in the heart of themselves, letting the stagnant life restart .

Background

After illness, the hemiplegia have to rely on assistive devices and the help of others to move.Whether in the view of society or in the patient's mind, such a moving gesture is a label of the weak. Since they are no longer able to move freely as before, it has a profound impact on them physically and mentally.

Get back to the way they move before

Starting from posture design, we search for the way which is similar to normal, and let the hemiplegic group integrate into the society again. After that, they can freely and dignifiedly go anywhere they want, and tear off the label of the weak in their hearts.

From what can't be done to what can be done

Half bad means half good, we focus on the sound half side of hemiplegia patients, and maximize their benefit, and also design the most appropriate way to move which meet the patient's desire to control the direction on their own.

Indoor & Outdoor mode

Whether indoors or outdoors, you can move freely without restrictions. When moving indoors, the size of Hemi-go can be reduced to facilitate smooth travel in small spaces and avoid hindering others;when moving outdoors, the distance between front and rear wheel can be widened to make the movement more stable and safe.

User Flow

Hemi-go is designed with one-handed operation as an indicator. In addition, in order to make it easy for our target user to get started and continue to use, simple intuition and safety are also two principles that we pay great attention to.

Product positioning

We hope that even if the physical state of the hemiplegia is gradually fixed,  they can still move with attitude.Stage of use: More than 6 months of illness (golden period of rehabilitation) | Movement speed: approx. 6 km/hr | Duration of single use: Approximately 2hr | Travel distance: Short- and medium-haul journeys

We strike a balance between safety and the ability to maintain a natural movement posture, designing an option for the hemiplegia that is different from the current situation, but most similar to their pre-illness mobility posture - the one-foot gliding gesture which is full of spirit and attitude, and it can also close the distance between the hemiplegia and normal people. With a simplified design of body support, users can maintain balance and easily exert strength.
